This task will focus on advancing the overall accuracy of existing computer codes and models to improve the predictive capability for estimating offshore wind structural loads. Task 30 OC4 continues the work begun in Task 23Offshore Wind Technology Deployment (now completed). The task will compare codes for offshore wind turbine structures over a three-year period (2010 through 2013). The two work packages (1.5 years each)are: Work Package 1. Four legged, fixed bottom jacket substructure supporting the 5-MW NREL reference turbine and Work Package 2. Floating semi-submersible tri-floater or tension leg platform supporting the 5-MW NREL reference turbine. An experts meeting “Code Validation Using Data Measurements” will be sponsored in 2012. Each work package and the experts meeting of verification data sets will result in final reports.
